Shades of Grey

Grey. It’s the colour of the moment. It seems to be popping up everywhere whether it’s fashion, home interiors, exteriors, even nail varnish! Once a colour that was thought of as boring and bland, it’s been given a new lease of life.

Tones range from cool bluey-greys to warmer greys with yellow and red undertones. We’ve certainly noticed the trend here at Floors of Stone. Customers can’t seem to get enough of our Worn Grey Limestone, a cooler blue/grey, or our Umbrian Limestone, which is warmed by the red, yellow and green tones running throughout. The simple yet effective Light Grey Porcelain is also a hugely popular choice.

I recently received some pictures from one of my colleagues at deVOL of the Grey Porcelain laid in one of their kitchen, and I think you’ll agree the effect is stunning.

The customer had ordered a Shaker Kitchen from deVOL painted in Lead, a new colour that deVOL have introduced. They wanted a tile which would be practical in their busy kitchen, but also in keeping with the dramatic, industrial look they wanted to create.

They plumped for the Light Grey Matt Porcelain in the 600×600, which was consistent with the simple, clean look they wanted for the kitchen and also offered the easy practicality of porcelain. Large tiles are also very prevalent at the moment, as they offer a contemporary, minimalist finish, perfect for a modern kitchen.

The final finish is beautiful. The industrial appearance of the greys and large stainless steel fridge are softened by the crisp white worktop and walls and the dusky purple oven. Who wouldn’t want to cook in a kitchen like this?
