Quarry InspectionsThe quality of any natural stone tile is dependant on the purity of the raw material. Our customers like subtle colour variations and robust tiles so we inspect both the rock-face and the cut blocks for a light, even tone with consistent density. |
Cutting Plant ChecksWe visit the cutting plants to see how professional their operation is. We look for a well organised factory with up to date equipment. We follow their selection procedures, slab and tile cutting, edge and surface finishing, packing methods and pallet quality. And... we always insist on opening several random pallets to verify that a consistent quality is being dispatched on any given day.
|
Shipping and HaulageWe only use the largest accredited shipping agents so that our imported containers are properly supervised. Getting the right pallet to the right address in good condition is something we take very seriously; careful dispatch, monitoring and communication is key. We offer a next day or economy 3 day service for all tiles in stock. Our delivery wagons have a 1 ton tail lift and pallet truck so pallets can be safely positioned. |
To get the most out of your natural stone floor tiles it is highly recommended that you seal your tiles to ensure that they are easy to maintain and can endure many years of usage without deterioration. Once the stone floor tiles have been laid, a layer of impregnating sealer is applied. Then the floor is grouted and a second layer of sealer is applied, ensuring the grout itself is also protected. This helps to protect the stone and the grout from staining, even from red wine or other substances that are prone to causing stains.
In the case of certain types of tumbled marble, travertine and limestone, the natural pits and crevices can be filled to the customers specifications before sealing to help ensure no dirt gets trapped. Even highly polished stone tiles require sealing as all stone is porous to some degree. Once applied, the sealer is guaranteed to protect your stone for 12-15 years by the manufacturer, making it fantastic value for money.
