To get the most out of your natural stone floor tiles it is highly recommended that you seal your tiles to ensure that they are easy to maintain and can endure many years of usage without deterioration. Once the stone floor tiles have been laid, a layer of impregnating sealer is applied. Then the floor is grouted and a second layer of sealer is applied, ensuring the grout itself is also protected. This helps to protect the stone and the grout from staining, even from red wine or other substances that are prone to causing stains.
In the case of certain types of tumbled marble, travertine and limestone, the natural pits and crevices can be filled to the customers specifications before sealing to help ensure no dirt gets trapped. Even highly polished stone tiles require sealing as all stone is porous to some degree. Once applied, the sealer is guaranteed to protect your stone for 12-15 years by the manufacturer, making it fantastic value for money.
