Travertine Tile Quality


The travertine industry has 5 categories in which travertine tiles are graded; Select (Ivory), Export (Premium Classic), C1 (Classic), C2 (Commercial Grade) and C3 (Substandard). We do not sell C2 or C3 travertine tiles as the colour variations, porosity and amount of filler are unacceptable. These low grade travertine tiles are often mis-sold as Classic mixed or even Premium Classic by most internet traders, so if the price seems too good to be true, we advise you to be wary. Always make your judgement on the travertine sample supplied and the reputation of the retailer.

Travertine floor tiles come in a range of colours, textures and finishes; from textured and pitted rustic travertine tiles through to the glass-like finish of ivory vein cut travertine tiles. For a more traditional stone floor, a light tumbled or noce travertine tile can perfectly complement original features and furniture. With the pitted surface and weathered edges, tumbled travertine tiles look centuries old and create an authentic feel, making tumbled travertine tiles ideal for period renovations and barn conversions.

The sleeker filled, honed and straight-cut types of travertine tile can create a more contemporary look. Honed travertine tiles can create a look which is similar to that of limestone tiles, but feature a more patterned finish, with veining in the travertine tiles ranging from cinnamon to quartz in colour. With the range of travertine tile colours and finishes available, natural travertine tiles can suit any decor. SealGuard Sealer

SealGuard is an impregnating, invisible and breathable sealer that protects exposed natural stone tiles and grout from surface staining. SealGuard provides long lasting protection and when treated, indoor and outdoor surfaces become easier to maintain without altering the colour or appearance of your tiles. We recommend this sealer as it soaks directly into the stone offering maximum protection.

You will require 1 litre of SealGuard Sealer to cover 10m2 with 2 coats.

This easy to install underfloor heating gives you controllable heating that is both economical and maintenance free. While the 150w/m2 mats provide ample heating in most rooms, for conservatories and other areas of high heat loss, you may want to consider the more powerful 200w/m2 mat.

Larsen Flexible Grout 2-20mm

This flexible grout, available in Beige or a Ivory, compliments the natural tones of your tiles. It is plasticized and water resistant and can be used on all porous or non porous tiles with joints from 2-20mm. Suitable for use on internal and external walls and floors.

Larsen Flexible Adhesive 20kg

You will require 1 x 20kg bag of adhesive for each 4 - 5m2 of flooring.

This white cement-based, rapid setting tile adhesive offers high tensile strength and flexibility. It is suitable for all natural stone and can be applied on interior and exterior walls and floors and is also suitable for underfloor heating. This adhesive will not discolour even the palest of tiles.

SealGuard Sure Clean

Sure Clean is particularly good at removing grout residue, wax, grease, oils and other marks from natural stone flooring. Although it is suitable for travertine, limestone and marble, we recommend that it is used sparingly on more porous stone, such as our tumbled varieties, and then washed off with cold water. For polished stone, simply buff the surface.

Delivery of our travertine tiles within England and Wales is a flat rate price. Please contact us if you require your travertine tiles delivered to Scotland or Europe. Many of our customers in Europe find it is cheaper to buy travertine tiles from ourselves even with the cost of delivery, As our offices, showroom and Travertine yard are all located on the same premises just a few miles from the M1, it is convenient to come and collect your travertine tiles directly from us.
