2016 at Floors of Stone

22nd December 2016

By Kathryn Collins

It’s been another great year for Floors of Stone so I thought we would take a moment to review whats been happening.

Growth

We have experienced record sales in 2016, only just but with Brexit on the horizon we are pretty happy that we have managed to grow the business in what is a tricky current climate. We know how important it is to offer great products, great service and great prices and we do all we can to ensure we offer all three!

We’ve noticed a large number of repeat customers which gives us great satisfaction to know that we must be doing something right as people keep returning for their next project!

Staff

Our headcount has increased to 12 members of staff, with the addition of Charlie in April and the return of Georgia to the team after a year working in London for deVOL. Both have settled right in to our lovely office and after our yard manager James departed in July, Tom has taken on this mantle with great aplomb.

July was hugely exciting as we welcomed the first Floors of Stone baby to the world with Martha having a beautiful little girl, Runa. We miss Martha’s presence here in the office but she has taken motherhood in her stride and we look forward to her visits where we all have a little Runa cuddle.

October saw Hannah move to our Cotes Mill ceramics studio full time, dedicating more time to the design and production of the increasingly popular handmade tiles. Orders have been received from near and far, from Quorn to California and we look forward to what 2017 brings with this exciting venture.

We really do have a great team here at Floors of Stone and all staff deserve great credit for their contributions to the success, their dedication and efforts don’t unnoticed so a big thank you to them all!

Products

We do our best to continue to bring products to the market which we know our customers want to see. We don’t just jump on the latest trend which may only have a short lifespan, we choose tiles which will stand the test of time.

Our latest addition is the Bianco Carrara Honed Metro tiles which is unlike other metro tiles on the market. We all know the Bianco Carrara is timeless but its honed finish and bevelled edge means these tiles exude luxury and would look incredible as a kitchen splashback.

We introduced the Dove Grey Tumbled Limestone in January and it has quickly become one of our best sellers. It proved so popular we added the 600×900 and Opus pattern to the range.

Parquet flooring made its return to popularity this year and with it becoming a very popular choice with deVOL customers we just had to add it to our range. You know it’s a trend that’s here to stay and with the option to sand back and re stain or oil in the future it is a flexible choice.

Stone effect porcelain is something we have avoided for a long time with the products on the market poor substitutes to the real deal. However, we kept an open mind and have now sourced an amazing new range which are great alternatives to our Dijon, Light Jerusalem and Dove Grey Limestones. We are still biased towards real stone but we appreciate some customers prefer the consistency and ease of porcelain and we don’t blame you when they look as good as these! Here’s a sneak peek…

I’m sure many people will be glad to see the back of 2016 but it’s not been all bad! We want to say a big thank you to all of our customers and we wish everyone a very Merry Christmas a wonderful New Year.
