We’re super excited to announce the launch of our new Rustic Oak Parquet Flooring!
Parquet has been on our radar for quite a while now, as it has been having something of a revival. Not that parquet ever went ‘out of fashion’ as such, it’s always been a timeless, classic look, but recently it seems to have been gaining popularity.
We’ve noticed a growing trend amongst customers of our sister company, deVOL Kitchens, who’ve been enquiring about this flooring for some time now. We can see why – parquet looks stunning against their kitchens, like in this beautiful Arts and Crafts kitchen.
Or their glamorous Bath Kitchen:
Parquet has that special quality in that it sits well in both period and modern properties. I’ve seen pictures of it looking fabulous in grand, Georgian townhouses but it also looks completely natural and at home in a 1930s semi. It’s so versatile.
So to meet this growing demand, we have introduced our own range. The Rustic Oak Parquet blocks are really versatile, as they come unfinished, so they can be stained or oiled in order to fit with rest of the scheme. We have created several display boards for our showroom, demonstrating just a few ways the parquet can be finished.
This is the blocks sanded down and left as their natural colour, so you can see how they arrive to you:
Next we finished the blocks with Osmo Oil Clear, in order to retain the natural colour, but just bring out a bit more warmth and detail from the wood:
A lot of our customers love the pale, simple, Scandinavian look, so we finished the third board with a Lime Wax in order to give the blocks this white-washed effect:
We love the rich, warm tones of the parquet in the deVOL’s Bath Kitchen, so to try and recreate this, our fourth board was stained using Van Dyke Crystals. I love the deep, rich tone this gives to the wood:
And finally, for those of you who are really brave, our last display was stained with very concentrated Van Dyke Crystals and finished with Danish Oil:
