Petersfield Project

14th October 2016

By Sophie Mitchell

Last week Tim and I packed up the car, filled our coffee flasks and set off early for a long drive down to Hampshire. Now anyone that knows me is aware I’m definitely not a morning person, but as soon as we reached the beautiful South Downs National Park, all grumpiness at having to leave early vanished. We were there to visit Melissa, one of our competition winners, and take some pictures of her beautiful home.

Pulling up the driveway, we were greeted by a stunning Victorian property, with grounds that stretched back to meet the River Meon. Even the drizzly weather couldn’t dampen the glorious views of the surrounding countryside.

Walking into the house, you are welcomed into a stylish hallway, which manages to be both light and airy, yet warm and welcoming at the same time. The soft stone colour on the walls has grey undertones, which works wonderfully with the Dijon Tumbled Limestone on the floor, to create a stunning entrance.

The Dijon Limestone guided you seamlessly through to the kitchen, where it was teamed with a soft grey, Shaker-style kitchen. This room was full of natural light and utterly gorgeous, with views out of every window to the grounds and countryside beyond.

The Dijon is such a practical choice for the kitchen, as it is so hard-wearing and is lovely and neutral whilst still bringing a feeling of warmth. The tiles are full of fossils, quartz and mineral detail, which combined with the rustic, tumbled edge help add character to the room.

Upstairs, Melissa had chosen to use our Nordic Oak Wood Effect Porcelain in the family bathroom. It looked amazing! I’ve seen customers use it on the floor before, but Melissa was brave enough to take it up the walls in the shower enclosure as well. I love the look of this room – it has a Scandinavian, almost sauna-like feel to it.

The soft blue colour on the walls highlights the grey veining and detail in the tiles, bringing the whole room together and giving it a feeling of indulgence.

The whole house had been completely renovated from top to bottom and the finish was immaculate. Every room was painted in subtle tones, with art and antiques picked up from around the world bringing warmth and character to this sophisticated family home. Thank you so much to Melissa and her family for having us!
