The deVOL Journal

Sebastian Cox, deVOL and Parquet

1st September 2016

By Kathryn Collins

Early last year deVOL kitchens collaborated with the very talented Sebastian Cox to produce the beautiful Sebastian Cox kitchen. It was launched at Clerkenwell Design week in May 2015 and has taken the design world by storm. Described as ‘Urban rustic’ it utilises sustainable British Timbers  and is a combination of sawn and woven timbers to create a natural, organic feel.

It has been featured in so many magazines including Living Etc, Elle Deco, Country Livings Modern Rustic and in March 2016 it won Homes & Gardens Kitchen Design Award.

It is also regularly featured on social media, online blogs and has even received interest from across the world being featured on Remodelista, the biggest interiors site in the world and was displayed at the Creative Expo event in Taipei. It was awarded a Design Guild Mark in May 2016 and has recently been shortlisted for the 2016 Wood Award. Impressive right!?

We’ll stop showing off now and instead share with you our latest showroom display which is now available to view in deVOL’s Tysoe Street showroom in Clerkenwell. The showroom is a small, two storey showroom but we think we have made the most of the basement by displaying this kitchen in all its natural beauty.

Teamed with our very own parquet flooring; solid, natural, wooden blocks which can be treated to achieve your desired look. We simply sanded the rustic blocks back and stained them with an oil which enhanced the colours in the wood. We are delighted with the finished look and thank deVOL for giving us this quirky space, alongside the amazing Sebastian Cox kitchen as the perfect place to display our parquet.

Look at that soft light shining through the little glass pavement slabs above! We love it!
