TILING TRENDS FOR 2018

9th April 2018

By Molly Cherry

If you are looking to start a new flooring project in the upcoming months, you will probably want to know which looks are currently trending so I thought I would put together a little guide to the tiling trends for this year.

Herringbone

Herringbone patterns are becoming increasingly popular as they help to give a real statement to the floor. We have found that wood-effect tiles are more popular than ever so we have sourced a great product….wood-effect parquet – perfect! We introduced our Acre Porcelain range recently and we are confident that our customers are going to love them. We have three colours available; Acre Pine, Acre Walnut & Acre Hazel so depending on your interior choice, we have different options to suit all looks. This range comes in a very handy tile size of 155x620mm which enables them to be laid in this very on-trend herringbone style. If you are not so keen on this look, they can also be laid in an off-set brick bond pattern. They are just £35.00 p/m2 so you don’t have to break the bank to get a beautiful floor!

The Dark Side

When customers are renovating their properties, we often find that they want to brighten the room up and add a very fresh feel to the space. This year is the complete opposite – we’re going to the dark side! Dark tiles tend to provide a very dramatic statement and create a more luxurious feel. We have the perfect product to help you achieve this look. Our Nero Marquina Polished Marble is a beautiful black tile with striking white veins running throughout, with the highly polished surface helping to give a wonderful sense of luxury. These marble tiles are backed onto a porcelain which makes them that bit more hard wearing – stylish and practical at the same time! We sell these tiles in either a 600×300 size which are perfect for use on the walls and we also do a larger 600×600 size which are better suited to the floor. The good news is that these tiles are currently on special offer and start from only £54 p/m2.

Indoor Outdoor Living

The concept of bringing the outdoors in and creating a seamless indoor/ outdoor look has been creeping in for a while now, but it is really starting to take off. We recently had a customer who purchased our Dijon Tumbled Limestone with the intention of using the material for both their brand new kitchen and their external patio area and I have to say the results were stunning! By using the same tile throughout the kitchen and extending it to their patio space, it created a neat and seamless finish. We also currently have select sizes of our Dijon Tumbled Limestone on special offer which start from just £38 p/m2! The neutral tones of this limestone mean that it can be used with a whole array of interiors so whether you have light kitchen units or dark, they all compliment the Dijon Tumbled Limestone perfectly!

Industrial Concrete

The whole industrial vibe has really taken off and people are loving it! To complement those industrial interiors, polished concrete has seen a real surge in popularity again with many people reintroducing it in their homes. To keep up with the trends, we had to make sure we found the right tile that is in keeping with this vibe and we found the perfect product – our Cement Porcelain. It comes in a larger size of 750×750 which really suits that industrial style as typically you would have large-format tiles. They can be laid with a narrow grout line which helps to create a more seamless finish and gives the overall appearance of a concrete floor. This porcelain starts from just £37 p/m2 so is at a fraction of the price of polished concrete! Using organic accessories such as wood and aged metal will always help to soften the industrial vibe for a family home, a handy tip if you are looking to accessorize the room.
