7th April 2017
It was a sunny spring Tuesday afternoon in the Floors of Stone office and the marketing team stumbled across a floor that we instantly fell in love with… it was terracotta and it was beautiful. From then it was our mission to source our own dreamy deep red Terracotta Tiles.
After lots of research and trying out different products from Mexico and other countries all over the world we have finally settled for the perfect Spanish Terracotta Tiles. There are so many Terracotta tiles out there that are not the best quality, so we are very pleased to have found a high quality, handmade and beautifully authentic Terracotta tile, with deep red, ochre and russet tones that brings such character and warmth to a room. The Spanish seem to have it just right!
Our vision was to have a tile that looks aged, handmade and to look as if it’s been laid for hundreds of years and that’s what we have found. It’s hard to believe that these tiles are brand new. As a child I remember having tiles like these in our kitchen and hallway, which we think were the original floors from when the house was built in the 1890s. It’s amazing to think that you can now get brand new tiles in 2017 that have just as much character.
When the tiles arrive they come raw and untreated, straight from the kiln. On site we recommend that the tiles are installed by a professional and treated with boiled linseed oil, until saturated and finished with an LTP antique wax, to achieve the desired look. You can read our full laying instructions here.
You can find our brand new Terracotta Tiles on our website. We hope that you love them just as much as we do and if you have any questions at all please don’t hesitate to contact us on 01509 234000 or email us at email@example.com. Our office and Cotes Mill Showroom is open 8:30am-5pm Monday-Friday and 10am-5pm on Saturdays.
