CORFU

11th September 2017

Sun, sea and beautiful views was just what I wanted for my short break away and beyond the party town of Kavos, the picturesque island that is Corfu was the perfect place to be.

Corfu Old town was our first stop and we spent the day wandering along the harbour and seeing the sights this small town had to offer. We took a quick trip to the Old Fortress, sitting in the background of my snap, and loved watching the luxurious yachts and small fishing boats coming into harbour.

Our next stop took us across the island to Paleokastritsa, a small resort on the northwest coast. The resort was nestled between Jurassic like landscapes with many secluded beaches dotted along the coastline. The seas were crystal clear and a brilliant turquoise colour so we spent most of our days snorkelling along the rocks and exploring the secret beaches and caves you could only swim to.

One thing we noticed was travelling by coach is definitely the best way to get around and you can pretty much get anywhere on the island for no more than 5 euros!

This beach was my favourite to visit and had the best to offer for snorkelling. I even caught a sight of a sneaky octopus, with only a moving tentacle giving away its camouflaged hiding spot.

A small monastery stood on a hillside just off one of the beaches. It was a steep climb up a dusty path and through wild trees to get to the top but the climb was worth it to see the stunning views across the blue sea.

I love looking back on this photo taken on our last night. We had the most amazing rooftop meal where we devoured a huge selection of traditional Greek meze. I think any Greek Island is beautiful but as we watched the sun slowly setting across the harbour, Corfu has definitely become my favourite.
