A Lesson in Industrial Chic

11th July 2017

By Sophie Mitchell

We’ve been very lucky recently that lots of generous customers have sent in pictures of their finished projects for us to see. I love this part – we get quite involved and love hearing all about customers’ plans and designs when they visit us in the showroom or call in to chat through their projects, so it’s great to actually get to see the final result.

I couldn’t not write a blog and share pictures of this kitchen. I absolutely love it! The whole space just works.

The floor was laid with our Tumbled Antiqued Ash Limestone (one of our favourites – we have it laid at the entrance to our showroom) in the grand opus pattern, which works so well in this square room. The house is an old Victorian paper workers cottage, so the customer wanted a floor that looked as though it was original to the property, and I think she has definitely achieved that.

I love the industrial edge to the room, from the metal stools and dark door frame to that amazing wine rack (which we are a tad jealous of!). The whole room is softened by the organic textures, from the rough, wooden table to the fluffy sheepskin throws and the squishy leather armchair. A masterclass in industrial chic! The tones and textures used throughout this room will stop you from ever getting bored. I love the pared back simplicity of the scrubbed wooden table alongside the feature clock and cute collection of jugs. The floor looks as though it has always been in the room and suits the property perfectly.

This particular stone is really versatile, and it was carried through the kitchen to the patio area of the garden where it stands up to the brutal (wet) English weather, but it also helps add a relaxed, calming influence to this cosy reading corner, where the log burning fire can sit happily on top of it.

If you want to achieve a similar look in your own home, you’re in luck as our Tumbled Antiqued Ash Limestone is currently on special offer! See it here. And don’t forget to send us pictures of your own projects, we love seeing them!
