Colour of the Year 2017!

25th January 2017

By Molly Cherry

Being the interior trend enthusiast that I am, I always like to know what trends for the home might crop up throughout the year. One way to get a good insight into the upcoming trends is to use Pantone’s colour of the year. If you haven’t heard of this before, then I will give a brief bit of background knowledge into what Pantone actually is. Pantone is best known for its matching system, which has been adapted worldwide for designers to colour match specific colours when products get to the production stage. Every year they choose a colour that is “a symbolic colour snapshot of what we see taking place in our global culture that serves as an expression of a mood and an attitude.” So, this year’s colour of the year is… Greenery! This colour is already making me dream of bright, sunny days when fresh leaves are formed on the trees and signs of spring are on their way.

So what will the colour of the year bring into our homes this year? One theme which crept into our homes last year was bringing the outdoors in. It seemed to be quite popular to bring big plants and pots into the home as well as having them outdoors.

Big palm leaves seem to be making quite the statement in our homes and if this is the trend for you, then you are looking in the right place. We have a range of small and large plants available to buy in our very own showroom, home to Floors of Stone. If this is what you are looking for, then why not pop down. We would love to see you!

We have some beautiful displays in our showroom which can be found in the village of Cotes, in the heart of Leicestershire. Our showroom is open Monday-Friday, 8:30-5pm and Saturdays 10-5pm.

Our sister company, deVOL kitchens, are currently in the process of finishing their brand new showroom in London (how exciting!), and the other day we got to see a little sneak peek of some tiles that had been installed in the showroom, and they just so happen to be green! Claire, one of our very talented ceramicist here at Cotes Mill has spent her time carefully making these new metro tiles (also very on trend) and they look beautiful in the new showroom, as I am sure you will agree. Looks like the trend is already starting!

There is no such thing as ‘January blues’ when the colour of the year is Green!
