Fairfield Beach Houses

26th September 2018

By Kathryn Collins

I’ve recently returned from a three week, family trip to America to visit my cousin in Connecticut. The first two weeks we stayed at her house in Wallingford, with her family, including her husband, four children, three horses, one pig, nine ducks, seventy chickens, six cats and a dog! It goes without saying it was a busy two weeks!

The final week of our visit saw us move to Fairfield in a rented beach house, a much more relaxed affair. The rental was a lovely house with a decked area straight onto the beach.

It was amazing for the children to wake up and immediately enjoy the beach from sunrise to sunset. They built sandcastles, went paddleboarding and swam in the sea. I’m not the biggest fan of the sea and sand but had a wonderful time nonetheless and particularly enjoyed going for walks in the local area and along the beach, where I have never seen so many shells!

Rather than tell you all about my holiday, I wanted to share images of the amazing houses along Fairfield Beach, ranging from quaint little holiday homes to the biggest houses I have ever seen. Each one was quite unique, immaculately kept and they reminded me of Cotes Mill, with cladded exteriors and all painted in a beautiful selection of colours. Here are my favourites:

On the final day we finally got a group photo which wasn’t easy with seven children and seven adults but we managed and the sun was shining to celebrate a wonderful trip.
