Georgian Gorgeousness

14th March 2017

By Sophie Mitchell

Throughout 2016 we ran a monthly competition, giving our customers the chance to win £100 and a photo shoot of their lovely new floor and room. At the end of every month, we debated over our favourite image, got in touch with the customer then went out to visit them to take some photographs.

I love this part of my job, I love seeing how people have transformed their home and really made it their own. We rarely get to see our tiles actually laid and in situ, so it’s great to be able to see them and take some pics to help inspire future customers. We share the images across Pinterest, Twitter, Facebook, Houzz and Instagram and get such lovely feedback from people who have been inspired.

One of our winners last year lived in this gorgeous Georgian property, near Lutterworth. They used our Brushed Charcoal Limestone throughout the hallway and kitchen/diner, and when they sent pictures through of the finished project, we just had to go and visit them!

They had spent the past 12 months updating, renovating and sprinkling their creative flair over the property. Their hard work has certainly paid off as the whole house has been given a new lease of life and looks completely stunning.

The kitchen was new so didn’t need replacing, but the poorly laid, ugly ceramic floor needed to go! They wanted something that they could carry through to the hallway to unite the spaces and that would be extremely hard wearing. With a baby on the way they also wanted something practical that wouldn’t need a lot of upkeep.

Before choosing a tile, they visited us here at Cotes Mill, to see our full range and ask lots of questions; took some samples home and eventually decided on our Brushed Charcoal Limestone. These large, chunky flagstones are predominantly black, with colours ranging to lighter charcoal tones. The hand dressed edges and riven, brushed surface give the tiles a distressed finish, which suits the age of the house perfectly. White walls and a contemporary design throughout the rest of the house contrast with the dark floor beautifully and the limestone works perfectly at grounding the light, airy space.

The good news for you, is that the competition was so successful throughout 2016 that we’ve decided to carry it through to 2017! Send us pictures of your completed floor and room through to enquiries@floorsofstone.com, and we’ll enter you into the competition to win £100 and a photo shoot. The terms and conditions can be found below. We can’t wait to see some more finished projects. Good luck!!
