Mohala Grey Limestone

17th March 2017

By Sophie Mitchell

You may have thought we’d exhausted all the grey limestones possible, we’ve got a great range of beautiful tiles, but we’ve managed to find another stunning stone!

The Mohala Grey Limestone is an Indian stone with gorgeous ashen tones, from light chalky grey to darker steely grey.  In terms of colour and finish, it’s somewhere between our Dove Grey Limestone and Tumbled Antiqued Ash Limestone. It has the chunky, tumbled finish of the Tumbled Antiqued Ash, but not the riven surface, and it has the colouring of Dove Grey, but not as much speckling, making it a great compromise if neither of the other two are quite right.

The Mohala Grey has been heavily tumbled, so it has worn edges and gentle scuffs and scratches across the surface of the stone, to give a real rustic, lived-in feel. It has little flecks of copper and white quartz detail throughout, as well as occasional veins and a very subtle grey speckling, so there is a bit of detail coming through but on the whole is quite a consistent stone (as far as natural stone can be anyway!!)

I really like the look of this stone, it’s got a homely, unassuming feel to it, an understated charm. I think it would be perfect in a busy family home, throughout the hallway and in a kitchen or kitchen/diner. Although it is a really hard-wearing stone, if you did manage to scratch or knock it in any way (I know a lot of our customer are concerned by their children whizzing round on scooters or chasing pets round the house) I think this stone would just take it and let it add to the character. It can also be used externally, so if you are wanting to create an infinity look or unite the outside and inside, then this stone would be perfect.
