Office Conversations

15th August 2017

By Jonny Uttley

I have now worked at Floors of Stone for two weeks and can honestly say it’s been one of the most challenging yet exciting fortnights of my life. As previous blogs have already mentioned, the people that work here at Cotes Mill are brilliant and the wildlife and scenery that surround our workplace is stunning. Therefore, to change things up a bit, I thought I would base this first blog around the topic of conversations in the office.

Football and ping pong are two conversations that occur on a daily basis throughout the office, which is fine for me as these are my two favourite sports. The ping pong table has already been set up in the show room and I’ve played two games, winning one and losing the other, making me a completely average table tennis player amongst my colleagues. However, rumours have spread throughout the office that I have previously played table tennis at county standard. I can confirm that this is untrue.

As the football season is fast approaching, an office fantasy football league has been set up. For those who are unfamiliar with fantasy football, it is simply picking a team of individual football players from different clubs and hoping that they score a tonne of goals throughout the season. There is a cash prize for the overall winner, but the bragging rights seem to be the most important. This season my starting line-up will be Petr Cech, Kyle Walker, Cesar Azpilicueta, Jeffrey Schlupp, Philippe Coutinho, Leroy Sane, Demarai Gray, Willian, Jamie Vardy, Jermain Defoe and Sergio Aguero. I will be satisfied with a mid-table finish come the end of the season.

Since working at Floors of Stone, I have made some fantastic new friends. But the best friend I have made is the flooring. After all, it is always there for me when I fall.
