The blogs we love

30th January 2015

By Sophie Mitchell

Here at Floors of Stone we love all things to do with interior design. Many an hour is spent perusing blogs, Pinterest and Twitter looking for beautiful rooms and spaces. We get especially excited if someone lets us know about a new interesting, quirky blog or tell us we MUST follow someone on Twitter. We thought that we would take the time to share a few of our favourites…

  1. Rachel Ogden  = rachelogden.wordpress.com/blog/

This blog is an all-round great site. The reason we love it so much is that it picks out individual items, such as photo frames or even gadgets, anything that would look great in a home and offers great advice too.

Rachel also works freelance with all of the main lifestyle magazines so her writing always has that professional edge, definitely an easy blog to browse through when you have a quiet moment.

  1. The Chromologist = http://thechromologist.com/

This blog has several contributors and is so eclectic and interesting it is easy to get completely immersed and wonder where the time has gone. If you love colour, this blog is for you. They look to inspire people to create beautiful homes you can really be proud of, and we have to say they do an extremely good job!

  1. Bright Bazaar = http://www.brightbazaarblog.com/

Speaking of colour, you will probably already have seen Bright Bazaar mentioned all over the place, but we thought we would bring it to your attention any way. Will (the blog’s writer) is unashamedly addicted to colour. His fab blog is a riot of vibrant yellows, rich reds and brilliant blues – a great pick-me-up read on a dull day.

  1. Igor Josifovic = http://www.happyinteriorblog.com/

This blog never fails to make us smile. A lover of plants and all things green, Igor’s blogs are so inspiring and happy they always leave you with a warm glow inside. He also often features new and interesting products, designs and designers. The only downside…we’re wildly jealous of all the amazing places he visits.

  1. Victoria Harrison and Houzz UK = http://vickyharrison.com/ and http://www.houzz.co.uk/

We were introduced the Houzz at the latter end of 2014. It’s such a great resource if you are looking for inspiration and design ideas, or if (like us) you just love having a nosey at other people’s homes! You can find ideas for any room in the house; find a ‘pro’ in your area and even post a picture of your tired looking room and ask for advice on what you should do with it. Vicky Harrison is the editor of Houzz UK and has a great blog with lots of craft ideas on, which we love trying out. The fresh, clean look of the blog is beautiful and her 10 years of working as a stylist and homes journalist really shines through.

  1. Kitchens Bedrooms & Bathrooms = http://www.kbbmagazine.com/index.html

Not an actual blog but a magazine and website, Floors of Stone have always loved how Kitchens Bedrooms & Bathrooms have been the leading force in lifestyle magazines. A market that is saturated with so many different monthly magazines on home deco, KBB always manage to get it right. The main thing we love is how they will take something such as a rug or bath, a standard house item and then scan the market to bring innovative ideas and options for the featured item. We also love the Q&A sections which give a real insight into how to manage and finish any design project.

7.   Paints, Papers & Prints= http://paintspapersprints.blogspot.co.uk/

A previous customer of Floors of Stone, Fay is an independent artist who blogs some of the beautiful pieces of art she and fellow artists have created. A real must to check out as she has taken some of our most popular Travertine tiles and used them in her bathroom, they look great alongside the hand thrown basin used to make a stunning sink.
