English Stone

15th September 2014

By Kathryn Collins

We sell three beautiful types of English Limestone and have recently added displays to our showroom to give a better representation. Our recommended tiler, Robert Booton laid and grouted the displays for us, we think they look great and so do our customers.

The Lincolnshire Grey Limestone originates from as the name suggests…Lincolnshire. It is a stunning dark, blue, grey limestone, a colour which is very on trend right now. It contains mottling which adds character and makes the stone very unique.  The tiles are finished by hand to give a slightly distressed look and the surface has subtle texture which feels luxurious to touch.

All three displays are in the 400xFL (free length) option which means tiles are consistently 400mm wide but you receive staggered lengths to create a traditional looking floor with offset grout lines. These tiles are also available in a 400×400 format or in 400 – 500 – 600 x FL format which means you receive three widths, 400mm, 500mm and 600mm which should be laid in rows of the same width, and then staggered lengths, which gives the offset effect again.

Our English Limestone is also quarried from the prestigious Lincolnshire quarries. It is a classic limestone suiting interiors and properties wanting rich English heritage. It is proving very popular with deVOL Kitchen customers as it complements the English Shaker Style kitchens perfectly. It is a similar product to the renowned Bath Limestone and is hand finished to give a lightly dressed edge and smooth exposed grain. The beautiful pale tones reflect light across the timeless surface and it can be the feature of your room without even trying, there are no obvious features that distract from its timeless beauty.

Portland Limestone is a heavily fossilized stone sourced from Portland in Dorset. It has a pale cream base and the natural fossils which add a greyish tone to the overall look. It is a perfect choice for those looking for a rustic, reclaimed, antiqued looking floor. The edges are hand dressed and the surface heavily texture resulting in areas of open grain and smooth spots.

All of the above products are made to order so please expect a lead time of approximately 4 weeks. We can also send samples of these items, please contact us to arrange this or to ask any questions you may have.
